A stone throw away.
Journaling John 8:1-11 forced me to do some self reflection and to face the truth. I realized that, in my life, I had been on either side of the stones. On the condemning side ready to cast a stone, but also on the side of the scared vulnerable woman, where people were quick to judge even though they did not know my story.
So having been on both sides my question is this: How can I expect Jesus to advocate for me and to protect me from people who judge me, when the moment I get up from the ground, I am the one picking up the stones.
The words of Jesus struck me loud and clear “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.” Who was I to judge?
Then I realized, not only have I appointed myself as a judge, but all those stones I have been carrying around with me, was not only hurting other people, it was dragging me down with it.
But here is the good news, just like Jesus showed His mercy and spared that woman’s life, He shows mercy unto us, not because we deserve it, but because that is who He is.
May I look at others through the eyes of Jesus and may I be reminded of His mercy every time I am ready to cast that first stone.

I found this amazing picture on pinterest (WhatWomanSouldKnow.org) which sums John 8 up perfectly: What is He saying to you? “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone”, “neither do I condemn you” or “go and sin no more”.
I printed it onto vellum and used double sided tape to only tape the back part onto my Bible page so that you can still lift it as seen in the photo.
I used gold washi tape (which in the mean time had been eaten by my dog) along the inside and bottom of the printed vellum and underlined my verse using a gold pen.
What I like is that you can see the printed area through the vellum.
I hope you have a wonderful and blessed day!
